Yury Urnov (Conceptual artist and Director) Born in Moscow, Russia, Yury graduated from the Russian Academy of Theater Art (GITIS) in 2000, and has directed over 40 productions in his home country, Europe, and Africa. He was one of the first to discover and direct plays by the generation of post-Soviet playwrights, who are now internationally recognized as the leaders of the New Russian Drama movement. Yury translated plays of Martin McDonagh, Sarah Ruhl, and Edward Albee into Russian, as well as a number of contemporary Russian plays into English. Since 2002, he has worked closely with the Center for International Theater Development (dir. Philip Arnoult) on a number of Russia – US cultural projects. In 2009-2011 he was a Fulbright Scholar in Residence at Towson University, MD. His recent directing credits in the US include Ubu Roi at Cutting Ball Theater in San Francisco, Marie Antoinette and You for Me for You at Woolly Mammoth Theater Company in DC, which Yury is a member of.  

Lola Pierson (Playwright) Baltimore native Lola B. Pierson is a playwright, writer, and director. She is the co-artistic director of The Acme Corporation and the creator of Baltimore's Ten Minute Play Festival. The Baltimore City Paper has awarded her and her work a number of Best of Baltimore awards, including "Best New Playwright," "Best Production," and "Best Adaptation." Most recently she is the recent recipient of the Greater Baltimore Cultural Alliance's Ruby Award for Literary Arts. Other words she has used in bios include: radical, contextualize, and experimentation. During the day Lola works very happily alongside the wonderful people at Figure 53.

Jay Byrd (Tusenbach)  Jay Byrd received a B. Iden Payne "Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy" award for his solo show, NAKED AS A GAYBIRD, directed by Jenny Larson (Salvage Vanguard Theater). Other productions of note include HIR (Capital T), FIXING TIMON OF ATHENS (Rude Mechs), MISSIONARY POSITION (Glass Half Full), THE SUICIDE (Paper Chairs), JUBILEE (Rubber Rep), COMEDY OF ERRORS and MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM as well as several children's plays (Scottish Rite Theater). Jay Byrd is a regular contributor to BedPost Confessions.


Zac Crofford (Vershinin)  is an actor, puppeteer, theater technician, designer, and general roustabout.  He has worked extensively in Austin, and he can be seen regularly with any number of companies including Trouble Puppet, Salvage Vanguard and The Exchange Artists. You may have seen him last year in a number of places, portraying murderous farmhands in Zilker Park, murderous puppets with Trouble Puppet, and a non-murderous, lecherous, Shakespearian, belching uncle.  Other places too, with varying degrees of murderosity. In addition to his work onstage, Zac is involved with a number of organizations who strive to foster support for theater in Austin, including the Austin Scenic Co-op and the B. Iden Payne Awards Council.  Thanks for supporting what we do.

Ia Enstera (Set Design) has been designing sets and costumes for theatre and film since the mid-1990s, and has been a part of some estimated 110 productions thus far. You may have seen some of her previous set designs with Salvage Vanguard, St.Edwards University, Breaking String Theatre, Hyde Park Theatre, Austin Shakespeare, Texas State Opera, Capital T Productions, Zach Scott, Sky Candy, and Teatro Vivo. She has been nominated for numerous design awards by the B.Iden Payne Committee, and has been the recipient of six of them. She has also earned Austin Critics’ Table Awards for Scenic Design for a dozen productions. Ia would like to thank Stacy, Elias, and their two furry family members for keeping her grounded and (somewhat) sane while she navigates through a life in the arts and studies for a Master of Arts in Scenography at Aalto University in Helsinki, Finland.

Robert Fisher (Sound Design) is a sound designer, musician, and performance artist with Rude Mechs as well as Creative Director of Audio Art & Science, a company specializing in voice production for professional entertainment and commercial products.  Robert is a company member of Hyde Park Theatre and Audio Lead for the children’s theatre program, Kid’s Acting.  At SVT, Robert was the Technical Sound Designer for Pinkolandia and a sound designer/musician/performer for From The Pig Pile.

Alejandra Gracia (Assistant Stage Manager/ Props Master and Blood effects) is a freelance stage manager living it up in ATX! She has worked with several companies in Austin, including Mary Moody Northen Theatre, Merlin Works, SXSW, Fusebox Festival, Austin Film Festival, Detour FilmProduction, The Vortex with Gale Theatre, and now, finally, SVT. Alé graduated from the theatre management program at St. Edward’s University. She would like to thank her family and also her best friend Andrew Hatcher for getting her this gig! She’s really put all her blood, guts and a part of her brain into this production... 

Noel Gaulin (Soleny) is an award winning actor recognized for performances on both the stage and the screen. He is a puppeteer, dancer, musician, physical performer and voice actor who has shared stories with audiences for over fifteen years.






Natalie George (Lighting Design)  is a designer, producer, and artist based in Austin, TX.  She is the founder and Executive Producer of Natalie George Productions, an award winning lighting designer, and is Manager/Producer for Leslie Carrara-Rudolph (Sesame Street’s Abby Cadabby) and her show Wake Up Your Weird. After studying technical theater at St. Edward’s University, Natalie worked as a freelance stage manager for theatrical productions and designed lights for corporate events and stage performances throughout the city of Austin. Since 2005 she has also been the resident lighting designer for the Nation Puppetry Conference at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center in CT. She has also served as the Production Manager for numerous other Austin organizations including Gilbert and Sullivan Society of Austin, Frontera Fest and Physical Plant Theatre, and has held Staff positions at St. Edward’s University as well as The Blue Theatre. In 2009 she left the University to serve as the Producing Director of Fusebox. Producing credits include the short film, The Runner, which was selected by the Austin Film Festival to be screened in 2011 and new plays Sad, Sad, Sad and spacestation1985

Jessica Gilzow (Costume Design)  started working with SVT when blood effects were needed for Mud in 2007 and then again during Hamilton Township. Since then she has become a company member of SVT and has designed costumes for them several times over the years. Some of her costumes were seen in Iphigenia (A Rave Fable)Heddatron, A Brief Narrative of an Extraordinary Birth of Rabbits, Pinkolandia, and AM I WHITE. She has enjoyed working with all of the amazing artists, past and present, that have been a part of SVT productions.

Heather Hanna (Olga)  is a Salvage Vanguard company member and board member.  In addition she is a Rude Mech company member and has worked as an actor in Austin for over 15 years. Most recently, Heather performed in SVTs productions original production of Three Zisters (Lola Pierson)Bright Now Beyond (Daniel Alexander Jones), and Civilization - All You Can Eat (Jason Grote). For the Rude Mechs, Heather has co-created and/or performed in Cherrywood: the modern comparable, Have You Ever Been Assassinated, Decameron Day 7: Revenge, The Method Gun, Stop Hitting Yourself (Lincoln Center 2014) and Match Play.

Andrew Ashley Hatcher (Stage Manager/ Props Master)  is also the Company Manager for Salvage Vanguard Theater, his first home for theater in Austin. Most recent work with SVT includes stage managing With Great Difficulty Alice Sits by Hannah Kenah and AM I WHITE by Adrienne Dawes. Other credits span numerous shows with: Austin Playhouse, Breaking String Theater, Doctuh Mistuh Productions, Fusebox Festival, Mary Moody Northen Theatre, TexArts, Texas Performing Arts and Trouble Puppet. He is a graduate of St. Edward's University. He's overjoyed to help bring this show back to life and looks forward to future collaborations with this amazing team. 

Jenny Larson (Irina) is the Artistic Director of Salvage Vanguard Theater (SVT). This year Jenny was named Best Theater Director by the Austin Chronicle. Directing credits include the premieres of: PINKOLANDIA by Andrea Thome (regional premiere), AM I WHITEand Denim Doves by Adrienne Dawes, From the Pig Pile by Sibyl Kempson, Naked as a Gaybird by Jay Byrd, With Great Difficulty Alice Sits by Hannah Kenah. Jenny co-created and costarred in the piece Guest by Courtesy with Hannah Kenah in 2011, which then toured to Bulgaria in 2013 and Brooklyn in 2016. Jenny recently collaborated with Bulgarian company The Mighty Mighty Pressure Cooker on UNLIVED LIVES from November 2013- April 2016. Jenny launched SVT’s script development program Works Progress Austin (WPA) in 2006. Jenny's next project: directing Casta (working title) by playwright Adrienne Dawes in collaboration with visual artist Beth Consetta Rubel and composer Graham Reynolds.

Elle Mahoney (Production Manager) has lived in Austin for 11 years, and enjoyed a diverse career in the Austin Arts Community. You may have seen her behind the scenes at: SXSW Music Festival, ACL- Live, Bass Concert Hall, Fusebox Festival, & the former SVT home at Manor Rd. Next up: SXSW Interactive Awards and Gaming Awards Ceremonies (Production Stage Manager).

Robert Matney (Andrei)  is a co-Artistic Director and the Technology Director for Whirligig Productions and the Technology Director for Hidden Room Theatre, as well as a Board Trustee for Austin Shakespeare. Recent credits: Sir Arthur Conan Doyle in "Houdini Speaks to the Living" Gloucester in "Nahum Tate's 'The History of King Lear,'" both for the Hidden Room Theatre, Karl/Steve in "Clybourne Park" (Penfold Theatre), Sebastian Topflyte in Paul Menzer's "Invisible, Inc." and Duke Humphrey in "Rose Rage" (the latter two also for Hidden Room Theatre), and the title role in Uncle Vanya for Breaking String Theater. Robert has recieved a variety of awards and nominations for stage work. 

Shawn Sides (Masha) cannot believe her luck to get to perform in this play with these wonderful people. It has been and continues to be a freakin ball. She’s a founder and a Co-Producing Artistic Director of rude mechs where she ‘s co-conceived, co-adapted, performed in and/or directed a new work every year, give or take, since 1996, including Off-Broadway and touring productions of Lipstick Traces, Stop Hitting Yourself, The Method Gun, and Dionysus in 69 in ‘09. She’s currently directing From the Pig Pile: Requisite Gesture(s) of Narrow Approach by Sibyl Kempson (developed with SVT), Pancho Villa from a Safe Distance, a chamber opera by Graham Reynolds, and rudes’ adaptation of The Brothers Karamazov, Field Guide.
